After much speculation about when the sequel to Ghostbusters: Afterlife would start filming, and as to the exact nature of the filming that would take place in the United Kingdom, a significant indication was spotted earlier today by instagram user Rufina Ganzales at Glasgow's Prestwick airport: one of the rusted Ecto-1 props from Ghostbusters: Afterlife.

Upon further analysis, this appears to be the Ecto-1 prop which was previously on-display at The Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles. Further photos of the car's arrival can be seen here: LINK

Hmmm. This really poses some interesting questions. You'd have expected Winston (given what he said at during the end-credits sequence) to have at least given her a polish and a clean if not a complete refurb. So why does it still look a mess? It's a long way to ship a vehicle if it was only some studio shooting so that makes me thinks there will be some outside filming. Of course it could just be that some streets of Scotland or England are used to simulate New York. It certainly wouldn't be the first time a city like Glasgow has been used to represent an American city. Ive also heard on the grapevine that Reitman hinted at some sort of London connection but I cant seem to find any original source of that.

Both Canada and the UK have tax breaks available for film shoots

Willing to bet that's a big reason Canada stood in for the US in the last one, and the UK may be for this one (or some of the story happening in the UK)

Basically the film industry doesn't like paying tax
