Yeah, until they rub your ankles and heels raw.

If you're already dropping half the cost on cheap imitations, why not just go all the way and get some nice boots? They will literally last a lifetime.

Surely you'll still be wearing shoes in a few years?

I just picked up a pair of vintage Vietnam era Corcoran 10" Jump Boots on Ebay (no side zippers). I am surprised how great the condition they are in, smooth soles stitching and tacks on the bottom. They look just like the movie ones minus the zipper. Feel nice too :D

I have a question on the boots, does the corcorans come with a steel toe? and if so do they make a similar boot without? I cant find it on their site so I figured Id ask anyone who owns them

From what I've been reading, prior to buying my boots, the Corcoran 995s, none of the jump boots have steel toes. Many have steel shanks, which are metal plates in the soles of the boots.

The XCS2525 style have steel toes, but they aren't jump boots.

They worked out great!
What's wrong with the laces that come with the 995's?

Just curious as to why people are buying laces on the side.
Hmmm...
If your calves are bigger you need longer laces so you can stuff your flightsuit into the boots for a proper GB look.

I'm glad I'm not the only one around here with Popeye calves. I just scored a pair of vintage Carolina jump boots! They have the brass zippers but otherwise they're an awesome match for the GB1 look. Are there any screen shots of the bottom of the boots?

Okay... I decided to cancel my order on the cheap ones and go for the good boots. Since I've vowed to never sell this pack I figure I'll be doing the Ghost Busting thing for several years to come, and especially being on my feet all day long at cons I guess I'll thank myself later. I appreciate the encouragement to go on and get the good ones. Ciao!

Ben just got a pair a few weeks ago, and is having a devil of a time getting a proper fit of them. He sent the first pair back, and it sounds like the second pair is also having fit issues.

He followed the fit advice they provided to him.. is there any better advice on how to order a pair and get a proper fit?

My boots are getting pretty beat up (I also use them for yard work.) and I'm considering upgrading to the proper boots, but his issues of course have me concerned.
